South Fork Licking River Description

The South Fork of the Licking River originates at the confluence of Hinkston and Stoner Creeks near Ruddels Mills, south of Cynthiana, and flows north over a limestone, mud, and sand bottom to join the North and Middle Forks of the Licking River near Falmouth. The Licking River is a tributary of the Ohio River, approximately 320 mi. The lower river is considered to be a rare example of a native muskie stream. The largest common carp ever taken in the state of Kentucky (54 lbs., 14 oz.) was caught in the South Fork of Licking River.
